Creative Therapy
Therapy can come in many different forms. Traditionally, therapy is viewed as two people sitting and speaking. However, there are different forms of therapy that uses other approaches for the same purposes. Creative therapy is a type of therapy that uses activities to help treat mental health conditions.
Creative therapy is under the guidance of a licensed therapist. This allows the client to work within a creative space to explore emotional, mental, and physical issues with the help of a therapist. The types of creative therapies can come in various forms such as music, art, and movement.
A misconception is the client does not need any prior experience or expertise in the form of creative scope. This form of therapy allows the client to explore their emotions and thoughts through artistic expression. Creative therapy can be most beneficial with individuals who have difficult verbally. Creative therapy allows for exploration of the inner dialogue and a new outlet to express them.
In this series of creative therapy, we will explore one form each week to learn what it is like and who may be the best type of clients for that.
